Portugal Day 6

Hiking the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail is a fantastic way to see the cave from above. The trail follows the coastline, offering panoramic views of the cliffs, beaches, and the Benagil Cave from a higher vantage point. The trail is easily accessible from Benagil Beach and provides stunning photo opportunities. The access from Benagil beach to the trail is very easy. After leaving the beach, go up the hill to the right and go towards the edge of the cliff and you will find the beginning of the trail next to the restaurant O Algar.

We booked 9am boat trip to Ponta da Piedade from Lagos. Ponta da Piedade, a group of striking limestone cliffs known for their unique shapes, crystal-clear waters, and hidden grottos. Many boat tours offer a chance to explore these caves up close, sometimes even allowing you to go inside on smaller boats or kayaks. During the tour, you’ll also pass by Praia Dona Ana, Praia do Camilo, and other beautiful beaches only accessible by sea. You can book the tour here.

After the boat tour, we tried to book a kayak or paddleboard at Benagil Beach to explore the famous cave up close, but unfortunately, all the rentals were fully booked. Instead of letting that spoil our day, we decided to make the most of it and spent the rest of the day relaxing and playing on the beach. The warm sun, clear water, and stunning surroundings made it a perfect way to unwind and enjoy the natural beauty of the Algarve.
