Germany Day 6
On our Rothenburg ob der Tauber walking tour, we’ll explore the town’s most iconic spots in about 3–4 hours. We’ll start at Plönlein for the classic postcard view, then stroll along the medieval town walls with views of the gates. Next, we’ll head to Marktplatz to see the Town Hall and climb the tower for panoramic views. We’ll visit St. Jakob’s Church to admire the Holy Blood Altar, then explore the quirky Medieval Crime Museum. Afterward, we can take a relaxing walk through the Burggarten (Castle Garden) for scenic views, then stop by Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas Village for year-round festive magic. We tried a Schneeball, the local pastry. Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany. This may be the best known walled city in Europe and is very popular as a tourist destination. Rothenburg is Germany’s best-preserved walled city. Part of the walls have covered walled walkways and can be walked and provide great views of the city. The wall is about 2.5 km (1.5 mi) long and covered, with several towers and entrances at the gates. We finished the tour around 1pm. Can finish some visiting on Day 5.
Driving 3.5 hours to Schlosshotel Kronberg, a luxurious five-star hotel located in Kronberg im Taunus, approximately 21 km (13 miles) from Frankfurt, Germany. Nestled in the scenic Taunus foothills, the hotel was originally built between 1889 and 1893 as Schloss Friedrichshof for Empress Victoria, the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria. Today, it offers a blend of royal history and modern luxury, featuring elegant rooms, two fine dining restaurants, an 18-hole golf course, and a spa. Arrived at 5pm or early.
Our Day 6 was spent on Western and Northwestern part of Iceland. Driving time actually took longer than sightseeing time. The Northwest region is one of the least populated areas in the country, the most untamed region of the island and the least frequented by tourists. Fishing is the only economic activity in this region, which has a harsh climate and beautiful terrain.
