Japan Planning & Booking

We visited Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka, each offering a unique and memorable experience. In Tokyo, we explored the vibrant cityscape, buzzing neighborhoods, and modern attractions. Hakone provided a refreshing escape with its natural beauty, hot springs, and stunning views of Mount Fuji. Kyoto captivated us with its rich history, serene temples, and traditional culture. A half day in Nara allowed us to see the famous deer park and visit ancient temples like Todai-ji. Finally, Osaka offered a lively atmosphere, delicious street food, and a perfect blend of modern energy and historical charm, and we were especially excited to experience the World Expo, which added global connection to the visit.

It's generally advisable to book popular Japan experiences at least 2 to 4 weeks in advance, especially during peak travel seasons like cherry blossom season (late March to early April), Golden Week (late April to early May), and autumn foliage season (November). In the summer months—particularly from late July to mid-August when schools are on break and major festivals like Kyoto's Gion Matsuri or Tokyo's Sumida River Fireworks take place—it’s best to reserve accommodations, transportation, and major experiences 1 to 2 months ahead. For highly sought-after attractions such as Michelin-starred restaurants, traditional ryokan stays, or limited-entry spots like the Ghibli Museum, booking 2 to 3 months in advance is ideal to ensure availability and a smooth trip.
